Adventures In MakeUp...WTH

I have been missing in action, but for good reason.  Now that I am getting used to juggling, family, work, and home life; I can do what I enjoy most having fun with makeup.

A few months ago three of my co-workers and myself purchased a makeup 101 class with the Jennifer Bradley Cosmetics Studio here in Dallas, TX, with DJ as the MUA.  We booked the session for the March 1st, 2014.  Let me start by saying i should have known this was going to be a wild and crazy ride when we never received confirmation the week of our session let alone the day before.  So I called and left her a message to confirmation and she never called me back.  But DJ called one co-workers back only because she called a few times the day before and again that Saturday morning.

The MUA artist finally returns my co-worker call only to tell her she needs to push us back to noon, because she ran out of lashes and waiting for them to be delivered (smh) the makings of a hot ass mess.  I arrived there first, and I do mean first the MUA had not even made it there yet.  She finally arrives and this lady is all over the place, her kids came with her (they were really sweet) so she decides to run down stairs.  Keep in mind she has left her kids in the studio with me (awkward) anyone who knows me know that I am not a kid person when it comes to stranger's kids.

The MUA returns and a few minutes later one of my co-workers arrive and we are sitting there chatting for like 15/20 minutes before she finally says we can come back to the area where she is going to start our session. This lady did not ask us what technique we would like to learn, or what our knowledge level was in regards to make up and applying makeup.  She only had 4 brushes that she used.  I can say the one good thing is about the session was that we received a gift bad that included lip gloss and "reusable lashes" that she used way too much glue, which in my opinion ruined them.  Oh yea did I mention how she bragged about doing makeup for celebs?

Oh yea the other two co-workers we unable to make the class, so they missed the train wreck of a makeup session.  My face looked like an oil slick, and she did a horrible job on what was supposed to be a smokey eye.  Her contouring sucks she messed up my co-workers face by mixing the wrong shade, drawing a line in the on her jaw line and middle if her cheeks, and did not do a great job of blending.

Below is the best picture of me after I blotted my face, and tried to fix what she created (SMDH).  We were two very unhappy campers.  Moral of the story do not expect anything from a $24 coupon from living social for a makeup class (you get what you pay for).

Have to laugh to keep from crying!!! Smooches

  1. What the what!?!?
$24,$54,$12, etc you paid for a service. Shameful she made you and your co-worker look mediocre especially when the MUA brags about working on celebrities.

  2. I know right! It is just sad that she did not take pride in her work. Seem to me she enjoyed doing hair more so than makeup. lol!
